before we go further, a small info

i am maintaining two sites with the same material. that's because i am still confused on which is better and which one should i maintain. right now both sites have similar content and i will maintain both of them before moving on the one i prefer. thus i would like you all to keep n eye on other site site too. here is the link http://abhifxsap.wordpress

of course i will inform you guys too :)

if anyone wants to help me on this , he/she is very much welcome. i relay have no knowledge on making and maintaining sites sigh!

starting off - some food for thought

1st of all let me make this clear because so many people make this mistake. The program we are about to learn is called S.A.P., coded by a German company SAP. The name of the software is pronounced as S-A-P, means each alphabet individually. this is because it stands for acronym for Systems, Applications and Products in data processing. Most of the people i met pronounce it as sap as in sapling which is wrong.

now that it is clear lets know more about SAP

SAP is a software (and very expensive at that), the company was founded by 5 German engineers in 1972 (yes just 5). the initial products were dud, in the sense they were not very successful and very super expensive to implement. the latest architecture on which SAP is based on is R/3 (what the hell is that? i will tell you later) this architecture was the reason that SAP hit the market like a flood is now the world's number 1 ERP (now what is ERP?)software. approximately 75% of the ERP's marketshare is in SAP's hand and all the fortune 500 companies use them. thus a career in SAP is said to be very rewarding .

now please tell me what is an ERP? what is hell is a software anyway?

now this difficult to explain in a lay man's term, A software is a program which is used to do things for the user. for eg. in order to listen to the music, you will use a music playing program like winamp, VLC etc

ERP - again its an acronym and simply put it stand for Enterprise Resource Planning

confused? well for that i will have to tell you a story and describe what is database (oh god) . a huge topic for the next time :)

here we go

hey folks. my name is Abhishek and i have just completed my training for SAP. generaly i am a self taught guy who tend to learn everything from different sourtce. so when i decided to learn SAP, bingo i started searching the net. what was so surprising that not only there was no relevent material whatsover, procuring a demo was also very difficult. either go for full fledge piracy or learn at the centers. thats what i did, joined a traning program…. but that was not satisfatory. very surprisingly the push for end user learning was close to nil, which means most of the learning is regarding configuring and administering SAP. not satisfied i ripped of the whole net, ate my instructors head, digested SAP book (how did you know that i love food?) and i think i had a better grasp.
frankly i am no expert, all i wanted to do is share my knowledge and learn from others in that process. currently i will focus on basics of SAP and then SAP FI module because thats what i know. the please keep in mind that lots will be added even after publishing the articles. i may learn new things later and add them. thus in way this will be perfect, but i assure you readers that you will have the knowledge to take on SAP on your own.
tutorials will be detailed, with screenshots for preciseness, and yes… end users will nogt be forgotten. complete end user guide will be posted.
please.. i mostly dont mind publishing in creative common license but this time i want to make an exception. the conetat of this blog/site can only be distributed after taking my permission. but please dont just rip me off. i will be placing all my strength in this, if i am able to help anyone then that will be my reward.
so lets start this journey together, it will be difficult, death defying and hair ripping experience. but we will make through (with enough hairs on our head ) :)
